About me.

Welcome to my portfolio. My name is Josefine Germer, and I am an illustrator/artist based in Berlin. Here I have compiled some of the pieces I have been working on in hopes of displaying the range of mediums I like to explore.

Actively I work on simultaneous paintings at once, keep myself moving through observational sketches, and love to use my hands making crafts. Though recently I have been obsessed with bookbinding and printmaking, in the past I explored filmmaking, photography, sewing and various other forms of visual communication. I love actualising a project and making it come to life. Though my work is currently primarily analogue, I am actively working in digital formats and am hoping to explore more editorial design in the future.

Additionally, beyond the medium, subject matter is very important to me. I am interested in personal experiences that intertwine political situations and creating visual images that transport states of being or follow a thesis. I want to continue this practice and put it into use in the real world, working on visually translating/aiding stories. I may be naively optimistic in the world of AI, but I still believe that we can perceive authenticity and that it is more powerful than any generated image.
